Review: Running on the Cracks

Running on the Cracks
Running on the Cracks by Julia Donaldson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I could almost recommend this to not-quite-teens: Leo is an orphan who has run away from her creepy uncle’s home in search of the grandparents she has never met. She falls in with a group of mentally unstable adults who drink a lot, and smoke and cuss and also care about her as best they can. She and Finlay are likable characters and allies, and the danger and grossness are kept a little low-key.
