Review: The Bards of Bone Plain

The Bards of Bone Plain
The Bards of Bone Plain by Patricia A. McKillip
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This one started a bit slowly for me. I stuck with it because I absolutely loved Alphabet of Thorn. Yip yip! I am duly rewarded: a princess who is an archaeologist? You have my attention.

I *did* like this a lot. Three stars only, b/c the two parallel stories and times were too matchy-matchy. The characters were not enough distinguishable from one another until a fair chunk of the book was under my belt.

Also, (personal bias alert) I would have liked the princess archaeologist to have had a bigger role.
