Review: Being Esther

Being Esther
Being Esther by Miriam Karmel
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

A matter-of-fact and melancholy exploration of an older woman’s last months of independence. Esther still has hopes and goals but the future is slipping out of her control. She wants excitement — yet the days seem all the same and all too predictable. She looks to the past and sees the person she was and who she might have been, with all the regrets and also satisfaction.
